Parties

Stephen Fry

New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Mothering Sunday, Christmas…
A musical soiree?
An ABBA fest?
A trip down memory lane for your 90th birthday?
Need the Dambusters theme for your RAF themed event?
Perhaps you want a singalong for all your musical and theatrical friends where each can do a ‘turn’?

Or maybe you’re just throwing an A-list celebrity party and you just want songs people know..! I had the honour in 2007 to be asked to play at Stephen Fry's 50th birthday party in North Norfolk, for which the theme was 20's and 30's Ragtime and big band with a generous helping of Noel Coward... I shared my piano stool with Jools Holland, who played 'Happy Birthday' in his own unique style, and Kenneth Branagh, who kept everybody up well into the small hours..! Jo, Stephen Fry's sister, who organised the event, said: "you played beautifully and were the final touch that made the party perfect. Thank you so much. Please know that very many people were singing your praises."

Venues have ranged from the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds to private houses and gardens but as long as there’s electricity and it’s under cover that’s fine!

Below are some extracts from letters of thanks that I’ve received:

“You play very well and your contribution to the success of the evening was very much appreciated by the delegates and guests. Many commented to me during the evening about the quality of your play and the choice of songs. Thank you”
John Armstrong, Chairman, National Hairdressers Federation Annual Banquet

“Jasper asked me to thank you very much for last Sunday’s lunch do, he said you played very well and will be happy to call on you again on the next occasion whenever that will be”
PA to Mr Conran for after-show party given for Julian Clary’s ‘Taboo’ production
